Abia Commissioner and COVID-19 state committee member dies

Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu’s  Commissioner for Environment and 2019 Senatorial Candidate on PDP platform, Dr Solomon Ogunji, has died.
He died on Saturday during a brief illness relating to high blood pressure, according to a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi-Kalu, a copy of which was obtained by PerSecondnews.
He expressed the deep condolences of Abia Government to Ogunji’s family and the state.
Ogunji, who breathed his last at Abia State University Teaching Hospital in Aba, was a senatorial aspirant in the 2019 elections and Special Adviser to the governor on Urban Renewal in 2015 and Commissioner for Environment in the previous administration in the state.
He was until his death a member of the state’s Inter-Ministerial Committee on COVID-19.
A condolence message said: “Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu, who received the sad news with shock yesterday (Saturday) has personally communicated and condoled with the bereaved family and he is currently in mourning.
“The state government prayed God to grant the bereaved family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
