…First Lady shuts down office for two weeks after a UK-returnee aide resume work

President Muhammadu Buhari’s daughter, who had  just arrived from the United Kingdom, is now on self-isolation.

The First Lady, Mrs Aisha Buhari, disclosed this on her twitter handle –@aishambuhari.

She wife tweeted: “Good afternoon Nigerians. Earlier today my daughter returned from the UK being among the high burden listed countries of COVID-19.

“Based on the advice of the Hon. Minister Of Health, Presidential Task force on COVID – 19 and that of NCDC, she is on self isolation, not because she displayed any symptoms of the Covid-19.

“Please I urge all parents to do the same if possible as prevention is better than cure.”

Persecondnews recalls that the number of people who have died after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK has risen to 137.
On Thursday, another 29 deaths were reported in England.

About four in 10 coronavirus-related deaths in the UK so far are in London.

The Federal Government had banned flights from coming in from UK and 12 other countries with effect from March 21.

Meanwhile, Mrs Buhari has announced the shutting down of her office for two weeks with only those on essential duties to work from home.

The First Lady said: “Similarly, I have shut down my office for two weeks with immediate effect while essential staff can work from home as a result of some staff who recently returned from the UK.

“I commend the North Western Governors including Niger and Kwara on preventive measures taken to curb the spread of COVID-19 at their security meeting yesterday in Kaduna.

“Let’s keep following the advice of the Federal Ministry of Health and the NCDC, which encourages maintaining social distancing, high hygiene culture through regular washing of hands with soaps and sanitizers.

“Let’s adopt preventive measures and ensure the safety of our families and that of general public.

“We will overcome the Covid-19 pandemic if we all take the necessary precautions at the same time!

“God bless you all.  Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria!”

Mrs Buhari reportedly shut down her office after one of her aides who just returned from the UK defied her instructions not to resume work.

“But, the aide came to the office. In annoyance, the first lady angrily shut down her office, asking those on essential services to work from home.”
