Bayelsa Polls: Sporadic Gunshots as INEC Collates Results In Jonathan’s Home Town

Barely few hours to the declaration of the Bayelsa gubernatorial election results, fresh violent activities have been reported in Ogbia local government area, the country home of the immediate past President, Goodluck Jonathan, as well as other areas of the state.

Crises erupted at the LGA collation centre on Sunday morning, as gunshots were reportedly fired by political thugs.

Agents of the PDP and those of the APC were said to have engaged in free for all fight, as a result of alleged attempts by APC agents to force fake results on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials.

Jonathan had on Saturday, voted in polling unit 39 of ward 13, even though he is alleged to have withheld support for his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), over disagreement with the sitting Governor, Seriake Dickson, who ensured Duoye Diri was sponsored as the party’s candidate against Jonathan’s candidate, Timi Alaibe.

APC was reported to have cleared the unit massively, and also cleared all the polling units in Otuoke Ward 13, the ancestral home of the former president.
