A writer with several publications in several Nigerian media houses, Peter Ovie Akus, expressed his gratitude to the generous gesture shown by the immediate Past Minister of Transport, Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, to his ill brother and his wife.
According to him, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi paid Emirate flight officials $1,400 cash for his brother’s wife seat to be upgraded to Business class, so she can be closer to, and take care of her ill Husband, who boarded a business class because of his condition.
“So my big brother is seriously ill and was on an Emirate flight from Abuja to Dubai for treatment yesterday. He boarded a business class due to his condition while his wife was in economy class, but the wife had to be shuttling from Economy to Business class to check on him and give him medication on the flight.
“It happened that the immediate Past Minister of Transport and Ministerial Nominee, Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi was on the same flight and seated close to my brother. Hon. Amaechi noticed the wife shuttling from Economy to Business class and the toll it was having on her, and out of sheer generosity offered to give her his seat in the business class, so he can go back to her seat in Economy Class. She politely declined and told him it’s not done that way, as she didn’t want to inconvenience him.
“Right there, Hon. Ameachi called up the Emirate officials and paid $1,400 cash for my brother’s wife, for her seat to be upgraded to Business class so she can be closer to her ill Husband and take care of him, and still went on to leave his seat for her because he was seated closer to my brother so she can occupy his seat and he took the new space.
“We appreciate your kindness. I have seen a similar story on twitter where you helped a sick opposition member who even used to insult and antagonize you, May God continue to guide and elevate you. Thank you,” He narrated.
