Nigerian Senate approves Emefiele for 2nd-term as CBN governor

The Nigerian Senate has approved President Muhammadu Buhari’s request that Godwin Emefiele returns as central bank governor for a second term.

Emefiele effectively becomes the first central bank governor to return for a second term since Nigeria returned to a democratic rule in 1999.

Emefiele second term will expire in 2024.
