The Petroleum Industry Governanace Bill known as PIGB has been passed by the Nigerian Senate nearly two decades after. The senate passed the protracted bill Wednesday in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The lawmakers approved amended version of an oil industry reform bill rejected by president Buhari last year.

Buhari had rejected the proposed law, which aims to overhaul the way the industry is funded and regulated.
