Natural Gas Key For Development And Economic Growth – Minister

NNPC’s COO Gas & Power, Saidu Mohammed on Tuesday said that Natural Gas is a driver for development and central to sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).

Engr. Mohammed made the remark at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Gas Symposium at the port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago.

Mohammed, representing the honourable minister of State Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, further emphasized that energy security is required for the socio-economic and environmental balance towards sustainability.

He stressed that the Buhari administration since inception had continually supported increased natural gas production and distribution through an appropriate and timely investments incentives that will trigger accelerated economic developments of Nigeria and environmental requirements.

Other delegates at the symposium are Mr. Bala M. Wunti, Group General Manager, Corporate Planning and Strategy, NNPC, Dr Omar Farouk Ibrahim, GGM IER and Aliyu R Aminu.

The Gas Symposium consisted of two panel discussions with the topics Natural Gas and Long Term Energy Security and The Role of Natural Gas in Energy Policies of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, HE the Hon. Dr. Keith Rowley gave the Keynote speech at the Gas Symposium being jointly organized by the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) and the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries of Trinidad and Tobago on November 13, 2018 on the sidelines of the 20th GECF Ministerial Meeting.
