Nigerian woman dies after being rushed off Ethiopian Airlines flight on stretcher

[dropcap]A[/dropcap] Nigerian woman who had a medical emergency on an Ethiopian Airlines flight died Wednesday morning shortly after she was rushed off the plane on a stretcher, Per Second News gathered.

Shortly after Flight ET 500 was preparing to land in Washington, Dulles international airport, crew found her in “medical distress” just outside the lavatory. Crew members and several medical professionals who were on board tried to help the woman.

The flight was diverted to Halifax, Canada where paramedics met the flight, which originated at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, as it landed at Halifax. They carried the woman off the plane on a portable stretcher but were unable to revive her.

The flight had on board several financial leaders from Nigeria and other African countries attending the 2017 World Bank,IMF annual meeting.

There was no information on the woman’s name and age, except for her Nigerian passport withheld by airline officials.

In February, a British woman died on a Birmingham-bound plane from Pakistan after a dramatic medical emergency landing in Germany.

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Islamabad was diverted to Berlin after the woman fell ill on the Boeing 777-340 plane.

In March, another 42-year-old Australian woman  died on board an international flight.

The incident was on a Delta flight from Los Angeles, with passengers having to remain on the tarmac for an hour-and-a-half after the plane landed at 6.50am

An elderly passenger on [Aug 14] died while traveling to Bermuda on an American Airlines aircraft, officials confirmed.

The passenger, an 85-year-old woman, became ill on the flight from Miami to Bermuda and despite life saving efforts, the woman died as the flight arrived into the Island.

A 24 year-old woman travelling in a SpiceJet plane from Mumbai to Varanasi died January after she fell ill onboard, with her husband alleging negligence on the part of the flight attendants. Sangeeta, a resident of Shivpur area in Varanasi, boarded the plane from Mumbai this morning along with her husband Rajesh and their daughter, Phoolpur SHO Brijesh Mishra said.

The airline said the woman had complained of breathlessness onboard and given medical attention.
