Bobrisky absolves self, points finger at VDM in Falana, Falz pardon saga

Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, has denied defaming renowned human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, popular rapper Falz, after the duo demanded a retraction and apology regarding an alleged defamatory audio recording.

The audio, which surfaced last month, reportedly involved Bobrisky claiming to have given the Falanas N10 million to secure a presidential pardon for his conviction earlier this year.

However, Bobrisky has rejected the voice in the recording as his own, asserting: “I, Okuneye Idris, aka Bobrisky, did not give Falz or his dad any money for a pardon. As a matter of fact, no penny was given to them.”

According to Persecondnews, lawyers from Falana and Falana’s Chambers signed a cease-and-desist letter that Falana and his son issued, demanding an apology within 12 hours.

Bobrisky has since responded on Instagram, maintaining that he did not publish any defamatory statements and stands by his denial.

He said: “The person that published an audio online should take full responsibility for what he posted in public.”

Meanwhile, the Lagos State High Court has ordered VeryDarkMan (VDM) to remove defamatory comments and videos concerning Falana and his son, Folarin, from his social media platforms.

Justice M.O. Dawodu gave the ruling in suit No. ID/8584/GCM/2024 on Monday.

The court ruled that the publications made by VeryDarkMan on his social media platforms on September 24, 2024, which linked Bobrisky to Falz and his father, were defamatory and harmful to their public image.
