Reality TV star Terseer Waya, popularly known as Kiddwaya, has threatened legal action over fake AI-generated nude videos of him circulating online, warning those responsible that his lawyers are monitoring the situation.
The former Big Brother Naija housemate expressed outrage over the videos, describing them as fake and accusing those behind the content of misusing his identity.
In a post addressing the development, Kiddwaya said he would ordinarily not respond to such matters publicly but felt compelled to speak out because of the nature of the content being circulated.
“This is so fake. Haha. I don’t usually address these things online but I have to address this FAKE AI video of me circulating,” he wrote.
He challenged those responsible for creating the videos to stop misrepresenting him, stressing that he considered the matter serious enough to warrant legal intervention.
“If u are going 2 steal my identity then do it properly. I take this matter seriously, my lawyers are watching very carefully. Kirikiri prison direct,” he added.
His reference to Kirikiri Prison, a correctional facility in Lagos, underscored his warning that he would pursue accountability against anyone found responsible for producing or distributing the fake content.
AI-generated content can make it increasingly difficult for audiences to distinguish authentic footage from manipulated material, raising concerns about identity theft, reputational damage and the potential misuse of personal images.
For celebrities and other public figures, the circulation of fabricated explicit content can expose them to unwanted public scrutiny while creating the false impression that they participated in or consented to the material.
Kiddwaya’s response makes clear that he does not regard the circulating videos as harmless entertainment, with his warning that his lawyers are watching closely signalling a possible legal response.
The reality TV personality rose to prominence following his participation in the 2020 edition of Big Brother Naija and has remained a recognisable figure in Nigeria’s entertainment scene.
