In a decisive pre-dawn offensive, Nigerian Army and Civilian Joint Task Force operatives have destroyed multiple terrorist camps deep inside Sambisa Forest, delivering a major setback to insurgents in Borno State. The joint operation took place at about 8:26am on June 19, executed by soldiers from the 26 Task Force Brigade Garrison in Gwoza Local Government Area.

Security forces targeted well-known terrorist hideouts across the Sambisa forest axis, focusing on dismantling insurgent infrastructure used for shelter and operational coordination.

During the raid, troops engaged suspected ISWAP fighters at Disa and Balangaje villages.

The militants fled immediately upon sighting the advancing forces, abandoning their positions.

The combined team successfully razed the camps and associated logistical structures, denying the terrorists vital bases for planning and sustenance.

Military authorities described the mission as part of ongoing efforts to restrict terrorist movements and systematically dismantle their support networks within the forest.

No casualties were recorded among the Nigerian troops or CJTF members involved in the operation.

The success of this raid underscores the continued pressure being applied on remnants of ISWAP and other insurgent groups operating in the region.

Local sources confirmed the operation’s effectiveness in disrupting terrorist activities in the area.

This latest action forms part of a broader strategy to restore peace and security across Borno State and surrounding communities.
