Updated: Kano Court adjourns suit stopping Bayero, others from parading themselves as Emirs until July 2

The Kano State High Court has postponed its decision in a lawsuit to stop Aminu Ado Bayero, the deposed Emir of Kano, and four other people from claiming the title of Emir until July 2, 2024.

The case was adjourned after a motion on notice was filed by the plaintiffs on an interlocutory injunction.

The interim order was also granted by the court, and the first defendant in the suit served the plaintiff with a counter-affidavit, which they were to respond to.

The presiding judge, Justice Amina Adamu, after listening to both counsels, adjourned the hearing of the suit until July 2, 2024.

Persecondnews recalls that the Federal High Court on June 20 voided Sanusi’s reappointment as Emir, having asked the state government to halt the implementation of the Kano Emirate Council (Repeal) Law, 2024.

Justice Abdullahi Liman, in his judgement, however, ruled that Sanusi’s reappointment was null and void because the Kano government disobeyed the court’s earlier order restraining it from taking further action on the new emirate council law of the state.
