Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle is set to announce his final squad on Friday for the 2026 World Cup African playoffs, with the team preparing to face Gabon on November 13.

The squad announcement comes as the team gears up for a crucial playoff match, which will determine their chances of advancing to the inter-confederation playoff.

“The players will move straight to Morocco because it’s closer to Europe than Nigeria, which makes logistics easier,” said a top Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) official on Thursday in Abuja.

After carefully evaluating several options, the coaching crew has finalized the list, an official stated.

The NFF source, who spoke to Persecondnews anonymously, revealed the roster features both debuting new faces and a few players returning after a period away.

“For instance, in an attack, over 10 players were under consideration, but only four could be picked,” the official said, naming Victor Osimhen, Akor Adams, Tolu Arokodare, and Paul Onuachu as the selected attackers.

Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye returns to the squad, while Brentford defender Michael Kayode is excluded for now as he remains undecided on whether to represent Nigeria or Italy.

The Super Eagles will face Gabon in their opening playoff match, followed by a potential match against the winner of Cameroon and DR Congo on November 16.
