Economic Suffering is Over, Tinubu Tells Nigerians at Olubadan’s Coronation

President Bola Tinubu provided a glimmer of hope in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, by stating that the difficult but necessary reforms he has introduced will soon lead the nation to a period of success and prosperity.

“The economy has turned a corner and a bright light is at the end of the tunnel,” he said, declaring that the nation’s economic suffering is now a thing of the past.

Tinubu spoke on Friday at Mapo Hall, at the historic coronation of a former governor of Oyo state, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adewolu Ladoja, the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The President’s address was a blend of felicitations for the new monarch and a hopeful message for the Nigerian populace.

Persecondnews reports that Tinubu thanked Nigerians for their perseverance and endurance, saying:
“Your suffering has been as painful to us as a painful surgery. But the economy has now returned to a moment of growth and prosperity.”

Tinubu congratulated Oba Ladoja who ascended the throne after a 32-year progression through the city’s traditional, orderly chieftaincy system.

“Kabiyesi, happy birthday to you once again. Today, I am honoured and feel very proud to give you the cheering news that the economy has turned a corner. There is a bright light at the end of the tunnel.

“Your suffering has been as painful to us as a painful surgery. But the economy has now returned to a moment of growth and prosperity. Thank you for your perseverance, and thank you for your endurance.

“Let me also salute the renowned businessman, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, on the occasion of your coronation,” said Tinubu.

The coronation was a landmark event that drew thousands of people to the ancient city.

The ceremony also served as a moment for Tinubu to acknowledge the support he received from the people of Ibadan during his presidential campaign.

“I once came to Oke Mopo to seek your support to tell you ‘Emi lo’kan’ (it’s my turn), and now we are there. Thank you very much,” he said, recalling his famous campaign slogan.

“It is a privilege for me, as President, to witness your coronation and all the things you’ve started, the expectations, and the history we share together as you ascend the throne of your forebears,” he said.
