The remains of former Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Innocent Ogbeh, were laid to rest on Friday at his hometown, Efugo in Otukpa, Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State.

In an atmosphere of grief, the casket was lowered into the grave around 1:20 pm on Friday, September 26, as relatives, friends, and political associates paid their final respects.

The interment followed a funeral mass held in his honour at St. Francis Catholic Church, Otukpa.

Persecondnews had reported that Ogbeh passed away on August 8, 2025, at the age of 78.

Ogbeh had a distinguished career spanning several decades and administrations.

He notably served as the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development during the first term of President Muhammadu Buhari, from 2015 to 2019.

Before that, he was the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from 2001 to 2005, a tenure that ended under controversial circumstances during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

In the Second Republic, Ogbeh briefly served as the Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly before being appointed Minister of Communications in 1982 by former President Shehu Shagari.

He was later reassigned to the Ministry of Steel Development just before the December 31, 1983, military coup that brought the then General Buhari to power as Head of State.
