For failing to attend a government event, 87 government aides, including 25 commissioners and 62 senior special assistants and others have been suspended in Ebonyi State.
Governor Francis Nwifuru announced the suspension from their offices in a statement issued on Monday evening by his Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor.
He said the aides were suspended for failing to attend an important government function.
Persecondnews reports that the affected officials are to proceed on a one-month suspension with immediate effect without pay.
They are also barred from signing any official documents during the period.
The commissioners were instructed to hand over to their respective Permanent Secretaries.
“The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has directed that the underlisted government functionaries proceed on a one-month working suspension without salary for failure to attend an important government function,” the statement said.
Uzor emphasized the governor’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that all government officials maintain the highest standards of conduct and dedication while serving the people of Ebonyi State.
