Just in: Israel, Iran agree to complete ceasefire, Trump says

656

In a shocking late-night move, President Trump revealed that Iran and Israel have agreed to a comprehensive ceasefire, putting an end to nearly two weeks of escalating tensions that drew international attention.

Posting on social media shortly after 11 p.m. local time, Trump stated that both countries had agreed to halt military operations, with the ceasefire set to begin “in approximately six hours” after each side has wound down its current offensive actions.

He went on to declare the conflict the “12 Day War,” claiming that it could have stretched into a prolonged and devastating regional crisis but instead was brought to an early conclusion.

“This is a war that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will!” he wrote.

Despite Trump’s optimism, neither the Iranian nor Israeli governments have issued official confirmation of the ceasefire.

Both sides remain largely silent on the reported agreement, prompting questions about its enforceability and scope.

Complicating the situation, Iranian cities including Tehran, Karaj, and Rasht were rocked by explosions late Monday night, according to local residents and reports from Iranian media.

Air defence systems were reportedly activated in Tehran following the blasts, though the nature and source of the explosions remain unconfirmed.

The BBC’s Persian Service reporter, Ghoncheh Habibiazad, noted that people in multiple cities heard “loud explosions,” and Iranian state media subsequently reported the mobilization of air defences.

Meanwhile, Qatar, home to the Al Udeid Air Base, a key U.S. military facility, issued a sharp rebuke following Iran’s recent missile strike on the installation.

Qatari foreign ministry spokesperson Majed bin Mohammed Al-Ansari described the attack as “surprising,” citing Qatar’s neutral stance and history of diplomacy in regional disputes.

Qatar, which has traditionally maintained strong ties with both Western allies and Iran, expressed concern over the deterioration of regional stability and reiterated its commitment to dialogue and peaceful resolution.

As of now, the international community is watching closely for verification of Trump’s claims and signs of compliance from both Tehran and Jerusalem.

While the U.S. president expressed confidence that “everything works as it should, which it will,” analysts remain cautious, especially given the ongoing uncertainty on the ground and the continued reports of active hostilities.
