Barcelona Eyes Ademola Lookman as Summer Transfer Target

1.7k

Spanish giants Barcelona are reportedly considering African footballer of the year Ademola Lookman as a potential transfer target this summer.

According to Catalunya Ràdio, the Catalan club is revisiting its interest in Lookman due to financial constraints that are hindering their pursuit of top targets like Liverpool’s Luis Díaz and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.

Lookman, who has been linked with Barcelona earlier this year, is seen as a more attainable option for the Spanish side.

However, there is uncertainty surrounding his price tag, with estimates ranging between €30 million and €60 million.

The player’s current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2026, which could impact negotiations and potentially lower the final fee.

Barcelona’s head coach, Hansi Flick, has reportedly suggested Lookman to sporting director Deco as one of their possible options.

Flick believes Lookman could be an excellent addition to the team, especially with the impending departure of Ansu Fati.

The Nigerian forward’s impressive performance this season, with 20 goals and seven assists, has caught the attention of several top European clubs, including Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Juventus.

The competition for Lookman’s signature could drive up his price and complicate negotiations for Barcelona.
