In a thrilling, intensely physical, and strategic match that pushed both teams to their limits, Team FCT triumphed over the seasoned Team Delta in the first-ever extra-time showdown in handball match at the “Gateway Games” National Sports Festival in Ogun State on Saturday.

Ultimately, it was FCT’s primary keeper, Obinna Okwor, whose standout performance secured the victory.
After a 17-17 draw in 60 minutes of full-time, the match stretched to extra time, where FCT’s patience and experience paid off.
Okwor, who is also a member of the national team, made several crucial saves to secure the win for FCT.
“The victory is from God, and I knew it was a tough match, but I remained focused in making those big saves,” Okwor said in a post-match interview.
“We promise that the team is going for gold, for the grace of God.”
Okwor’s heroics in goal earned him the man-of-the-match award, and his team’s win has set up a potentially thrilling matchup in the next round.
FCT is set to face either host team Ogun, who triumphed over Niger State, or Edo State, who bested Sokoto.
Carried by their momentum and determination, FCT aims for a deep run in the competition.
The thrilling encounter is sure to be remembered as a highlight of the ongoing National Sports Festival.
