Reigning champions, Zamalek, took a significant step towards defending their title at the ongoing African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship in Abuja on Tuesday, with a convincing 3-0 victory over Descartes of Ivory Coast.

Persecondnews reports that Zamalek dominated from start to finish, winning in three straight sets 25-8, 25-15, and 25-15.

Zamalek quickly demonstrated their superiority, showcasing superb control of the ball, skillful touches, and driving spikes when required.

Despite a slow start with a few mis-hits, they soon found their rhythm and raced ahead to take the first set 25-8.

However, their opponents, Descartes, struggled to contain Zamalek’s powerful attacks.

In the second set, Zamalek continued their dominant form, leading 15-8 early on. Descartes failed to respond, and the defending champions claimed the set 25-15.

The third set saw Descartes struggling to make an impact, despite scoring an ace while Zamalek capitalized on a couple of faults and an ace to gain momentum, ultimately winning the set 25-15 with a thrilling super spike.

This convincing victory brings Zamalek closer to defending their title and with their impressive performance, they have demonstrated why they are considered one of the top teams in Africa.
