Tinubu Reiterates Nigeria’s Commitment to Universal Energy Access by 2030

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to achieving universal energy access by 2030 with focus on increasing renewable energy to constitute 50% of the national energy mix.

Speaking at the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Tinubu stated the government’s target of expanding electricity access, boosting clean cooking solutions, and transitioning to a 50% renewable energy mix.

“We are committed to expanding and fast-tracking universal energy access for Nigerians by 2030,” Tinubu said.

“This will involve increasing electricity access, boosting clean cooking solutions for 227 million people, and expanding our renewable energy to 50% of the energy mix amongst others.”

The president’s remarks underscore Nigeria’s leadership role in advancing renewable energy solutions and its strategic policies designed to attract investment in the sector.

The Mission 300 Summit brought together African leaders, international energy stakeholders, and development partners to foster collaborations and address Africa’s energy deficits.

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, who delivered a keynote address during an exclusive dinner, highlighted Nigeria’s electricity sector as a prime opportunity for investment.

Tinubu’s administration has adopted a multi-pronged approach to achieving universal energy access, focusing on scaling clean cooking solutions, boosting electricity access, and transitioning to a 50% renewable energy mix.He called for robust international partnerships to finance and implement Nigeria’s energy transition agenda.

Tinubu also urged global stakeholders to collaborate with Nigeria to upscale clean energy projects, improve infrastructure, and ensure equitable access for all Nigerians.
