The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that it will officially unveil Éric Sékou Chelle as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles on Monday, January 13 in Abuja.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Media Conference Room of the MKO Abiola National Stadium at 11 am.

Persecondnews reports that Chelle’s appointment was confirmed by the NFF Executive Committee on Tuesday following a recommendation by the Technical and Development Committee.

The 47-year-old Franco-Malian coach will take charge of the Super Eagles, one of the most high-profile teams in African football.

According to NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, Chelle embodies the fresh energy, new thinking, and positive attitude that the Federation desires for the Super Eagles.

Gusau appealed to Nigerians to come together and support Chelle, stating that the NFF believes he has the qualities to achieve success with the team.

At Monday’s unveiling, the NFF will also announce the names of Chelle’s assistants.

The coaching crew will first focus on guiding the Super Eagles B team at the African Nations Championship in East Africa next month before turning their attention to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

Chelle’s first task will be the Super Eagles matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March.

He joins the team after a successful stint with Mali’s national team, where he led them to the quarterfinals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
