NSC shake up: Top officials reassigned to boost Nigeria’s sports sector

881

In a strategic move to reposition Nigeria’s sports industry, the National Sports Commission (NSC) has reassigned 57 Secretary-Generals and five other officers to the various National Sports Federations, Persecondnews reports.

This decision is aimed at revitalizing the sports sector and driving economic growth through innovation, grassroots development, and elite sports development, according to the commission.

Olumide Bamiduro, Director of the Federation of Elite Athletes said the move aligns with the leadership vision of Alhaji Shehu Dikko and Bukola Olopade.

“The mandate is clear. We are to undertake these changes to achieve results and position the industry to attract private and corporate investments, thereby driving the growth of our sports economy,” Bamiduro said.

The NSC has, in the meantime, issued a circular to the Federation Establishment and Appointment Department, instructing the implementation of the new postings.

The directive underscores the Commission’s commitment to enhancing the functionality and performance of sports federations across the nation.

The reassigned officials are expected to play pivotal roles in steering Nigeria’s sports sector toward its new direction.

Some notable reassignments include Rita Mosindi, who has been moved from Athletics to NSF/PARA, and Peter Njoku, who will now serve as Zonal Coordinator South-South.

The NSC’s move is part of a broader effort to transform Nigeria’s sports industry into a sustainable sports economy.

The Commission plans to establish a National Sports Development Fund and a National Sports Infrastructure Board to provide a solid financial and infrastructural foundation for sports development, he said.
