Just in: Body of late COAS Lagbaja arrives in Abuja ahead of Friday burial

The body of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has arrived in Abuja in preparation for interment.

His body arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport precisely at 12:16 p.m. on Thursday.

The funeral services are scheduled to commence on Thursday with a service of songs and will be followed by interment on Friday afternoon.

According to the Director of Army Public Relations, Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, Lagbaja will be buried at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja on Friday.

Persecondnews recalls that the 56-year-old general reportedly passed away on Tuesday, November 5, in Lagos during a prolonged illness.

Born on February 28, 1968, Lagbaja began his distinguished military career at the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1987 and received his commission into the Infantry Corps in 1992.
