The Senate has confirmed 21 nominees as federal commissioners for the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
The confirmation followed the presentation and consideration of the Joint Committee on National Planning and Economic Affairs and Finance’s report on the confirmation of the nominations for appointment as Federal Commissioners in the RMAFC.
Sen. Yahaya Abdullahi (PDP-Kebbi North) presented the report and stated: “The Senate should receive and consider the report of the Joint Committee on National Planning and Economic Affairs and Finance on the confirmation of the nominations for appointment as Federal Commissioners in the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).”
Persecondnews recalls that Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the former Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, announced that President Bola Tinubu appointed 21 federal commissioners for the RMAFC in August 2024, subject to Senate confirmation.
Also, the Senate had in September 2024 referred the screening to the Joint Committee on National Planning and Economic Affairs and Finance.
The confirmed federal commissioners are Mrs. Linda Oti (Abia), Mr. Akpan Effiong (Akwa Ibom), Mr. Enefe Ekene (Anambra), Prof. Steve Ugba (Benue), Chief Eyonsa (Cross River), Mr. Aruviere Egharhevwe (Delta), Mr. Nduka Awuregu (Ebonyi), Mr. Victor Eboigbe (Edo), Mrs. Wumi Ogunlola (Ekiti), Mr. Ozo Obodougo (Enugu), and Mr. Kabir Mohammed Mashi (Katsina).
Others are Mr. Adamu Fanda (Kano), Prof. Olusegun Kunle Wright (Lagos), Mr. Aliyu Abdulkadir (Nasarawa), Mr. Bako Shetima (Niger), Mr. Samuel Durojaye (Ogun), Mr. Nathaniel Adojutelegan (Ondo), Mr. Saad Ibrahim (Plateau), Mr. Modu-Aji Juluri (Yobe), Mr. Bello Garba (Zamfara), and Mr. Mohammed Usman (Gombe).
Sen. Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, urged the newly appointed commissioners to excel in their roles while serving as exemplary ambassadors for their respective states and Nigeria as a whole.
