Amid pockets of protests and insistence by law enforcement agencies to enforce court order, the Kano State Government says nobody can intimidate it over its decision on the dissolution of the five emirates in the state and the reinstatement of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.
Aminu Gwarzo, the Kano State Deputy Governor, stated this while speaking with newsmen in Kano on Monday.
Since Muhammed Sanusi II replaced Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as the Emir of Kano, there has been tension in the state, according to Persecondnews.
The House of Assembly passed the repealed legislation bill on May 23, and the state’s governor, Abba Yusuf, gave his assent.
Gwarzo said: ”The state government took a decision through the proper legal process. Nobody will intimidate us for taking a decision that serves the common good of the people.
”The importance of peaceful coexistence for the state’s progress and political stability is paramount.
“Our administration is committed to restoring the state to its founding principles of peace, justice, equality, tolerance, and hospitality.”
He appealed for unity and forgiveness and encouraged the people to work together towards a harmonious and prosperous Kano State.
