The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officially unveiled Finidi George as the Super Eagles head coach at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Monday.

Persecondnews reports that the unveiling was graced by the Minister of Sports Development, Sen. John Enoh, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Tinuke Watti, the President of NFF, Ibrahim Gusau; and the General Secretary of the Glass House, Mohammed Sanusi.

The President of the NFF stated: “We appointed an indigenous coach because that is what Nigerians want. The 52-year- old was appointed after he spent 20 months as an assistant to Portuguese Jose Peseiro.”

According to the new Super Eagles gaffer, his relationship with his players and assistants will put an end to the needless controversy between players and coach.

Despite the details of the contract not being disclosed by NFF, he said he is “not bothered about what the earnings are all about, but I will work passionately.”

He said: “I have a good relationship with players as an assistant coach, and now that I’m the head coach, I will build on it.

There won’t be any controversy between players and coaches from now henceforth.

“I’m not bothered about what earning is all about, but I will work passionately.
I will base my selection of players on their performance at their various clubs and their commitment to Nigeria.

“The best you can get in football is not getting any results, but my own is to win all the time. I will need the support of the media to achieve my aims, and we will succeed.

“My first target is to make sure that we are on line to qualify for the Nations Cup and World Cup, and my first assignment is to win our matches.”
