Famous businessman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, may face prosecution today as the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) is set to arraign him over allegations of abuse of naira.

Per Second News gathered that Cubana Chief Priest, the well-known businessman and socialite, might be on the brink of a legal battle as he faces the possibility of a jail term on conviction.

Following his arrest on Tuesday, the EFCC plans to arraign him today on charges related to abuse of the national currency, the naira.

According to the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, Cubana Chief Priest is currently in their custody and will appear before Justice Kehinde Ogundare.

The charges against him include allegations of spraying and tampering with N500 notes, a violation of the Central Bank Act of 2007.

The EFCC’s case against Cubana Chief Priest is outlined in a suit filed by the Commission’s prosecutor, Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), alleging several instances of currency abuse, including spraying money during social events.

This follows similar actions taken against other public figures, such as Bobrisky, who was recently convicted on similar charges.

Influential Nigerians intervene
There are reports suggesting that influential Nigerians are actively working behind the scenes to secure Cubana Chief Priest’s release.

Despite the seriousness of the charges against him, the socialite may benefit from the support and influence of powerful individuals seeking to intervene on his behalf.

However, the outcome of these efforts remain uncertain as the EFCC continues its pursuit of justice in the case.

The Bobrisky example
Adding to the complexity of Cubana Chief Priest’s situation is the recent conviction of another prominent figure, controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.

Bobrisky was sentenced to a six-month jail term by the EFCC for offences similar to those now being levelled against Cubana Chief Priest.

This development underscores the seriousness with which the EFCC is addressing cases of currency abuse.
