A prominent socio-cultural group, Igbimo Asoju Yoruba (IAY), has lent its voice to the call on Yoruba not to join the planned protests against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration scheduled for February 27 and February 28 over the current economic hardships in the country.
While urging the Yoruba to remain united and peaceful despite the current economic hardships, the organization expressed the hope that stability and order would soon be restored.

Bamofin George Olufemi Ogunjimi, the group’s convener, said in a statement given to Persecondnews on Monday: “We must unite as a people during these trying times and concentrate on finding answers to the financial problems that our community is facing.

“The Igbimo Asoju Yoruba think that we can overcome these challenges and come out stronger if we work together and have a spirit of solidarity.

“We implore all Yorubas to pursue peace and stability while maintaining composure and exercising restraint. Let’s maintain our trust in the process and hope that soon everything will be in order.

“We trust in the resilience and ingenuity of our people and are confident that together, we will be able to navigate through these tough times.”

Ogunjimi, a lawyer and former journalist, also appealled to the people of the Southwest to be hopeful of a better future.

“We encourage all Yorubas to join us in striving for a better future for our community as the Igbimo Asoju Yoruba is dedicated to advancing the interests and welfare of the Yoruba people.”
