Stop feeling entitled to the successes of young music artistes, BurnaBoy, Paul Okoye, blast Abdulkareem

...You didn’t contribute to their rise

The music industry is currently witnessing a clash of egos, with top music acts such as Burna Boy and Paul Okoye of Psquare taking aim at veteran rapper Idris Abdulkareem over alleged entitlement and lack of support during their struggling stages.

The controversy ignited when Burna Boy, a one-time Grammy Award winner, revealed in a podcast that none of the industry heavyweights lent a helping hand during his early career struggles.

Abdulkareem swiftly dismissed Burna Boy’s claims as “stupid talk.”

In response, Burna Boy took to social media, criticizing Abdulkareem for his remarks and shifting the blame to those who supported the veteran rapper during his health challenges.

Meanwhile, Paul Okoye joined the fray, condemning Abdulkareem’s sense of entitlement and lack of contribution to the success of emerging artists.

Okoye recounted a past incident where Abdulkareem allegedly went against their agreement not to accept payment for a performance, opting instead for a meagre sum.

“One day I will really remember how you bailed on us when we agreed that no one should collect the payment to perform at the 50 Cent gig, but you went behind our backs to collect peanuts.”

Okoye’s statement appeared to have underscored the frustration felt by emerging artists who perceive established figures like Abdulkareem as hindrances rather than mentors.

Meanwhile, Abdulkareem has fumed over the attacks he has been subjected to and has vowed to reply with a new single that would address the issues and more.

He announced that the single would be released in a few weeks.
