Renowned and soulful singer-songwriter, Sola Allyson, has celebrated two decades in the music industry since the groundbreaking release of her single, “Eji Owuro.”

According to her, the journey began with “Eji Owuro,” released on November 20, 2003, as the soundtrack for a film of the same title.

Reflecting on the unexpected success, Sola shared: “I didn’t know what was going to happen, but I make sure I put in my best into everything that I do. Usually, soundtracks are not always very long, but the executive producer, Mr. Ola Ibironke, suggested the songs stand on their own.

” That’s how I added to the songs to make them longer, and here we are today, 20 years after.”

With a career spanning 20 years and 10 albums, Sola Allyson has proven her ability to stand the test of time in an industry marked by constant change.

Acknowledging the uniqueness of her voice as her “natural magic,” she said: “I just open my mouth and sing. I sound like that, and I embraced it. I met somebody who helped me embrace it. I have always sounded like this.”

Having explored her musical journey from Islamic school to various churches, Sola also reflected on her innate talent.

“Since I was little, I have always been a star. It is either I am doing cultural dance or singing at an Islamic school; it is my voice that would be going up. I have always been ‘that girl.'”

Looking ahead, she expressed assurance about her path: “I don’t put myself under pressure. I just take every day as it comes, but you can be sure that the way you do anything is the way you do everything. I have found my soul’s path now.”

As a woman deeply rooted in her Yoruba heritage, Sola affirmed: “Anything can change some things, but my values will never change.”
