Rivers Gov. Siminalaye Fubara has described his alleged impeachment by the members of the State House of Assembly on Monday as null and void.

He also described the plenary session amid the explosion that rocked the Assembly complex on Sunday night as an illegal sitting.

The governor, who stormed the State Assembly complex on Monday, said there cannot be a sitting when the complex has been destroyed.

“I am still the head of government in this state. From what I have seen the security agencies is even compromised, they were shooting at me directly.

“I heard some people gathered here that is totally rubbish, you cannot sit when there is a problem and you said you are doing something, what are you doing.

“I am the chief security officer, I am the head of the government in this state, the only person that should create an alternative place for assembly to sit is me. So whatever action that is taken here is null and void,’’ the governor said.

Persecondnews reports that the political crisis in Rivers State took a twist as the State Assembly allegedly signed an impeachment notice on Gov. Fubara.

Despite the explosion that ripped through the State House of Assembly complex on Sunday night, some lawmakers still gained access to the complex and immediately commenced plenary where they all signed the impeachment notice.

The session was reportedly presided over by the Speaker of the House, Martins Amaewhule, and attended by majority of members, Edison Ehie, the Leader of the House.
