There seems not to be an end in sight to the political squabble between Rivers Gov. Nyesom Wike and the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, as Wike on Thursday insisted that he must step down as the chairman of the party.
Reacting to the resignation of the incumbent Board of Trustees Chairman, Sen. Walid Jibrin, Wike said it won’t stop his demand for Ayu’s removal.
Persecondnews had reported that former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, was on Thursday named as the Acting Chairman of the BoT following the resignation of Sen. Jibrin.
The PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Wike have been at daggers drawn over the stepping down of the PDP National Chairman.
According to Wike, the issue at hand is that of justice and fairness as the North should not also hold on to the chairmanship of the party having produced the presidential candidate.
Meanwhile, the National Executive Council of the PDP has passed a vote-of-confidence on Sen. Ayu.
A motion for the vote of confidence on the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) was moved by the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndidi Elumelu, at the BoT and NEC meeting which held in Abuja on Thursday.
The vote was supported by a NEC member from Kwara State and presided over by the Acting Chairman of the newly appointed PDP BoT.
Persecondnews reports that with the vote-of-confidence, Sen. Ayu may not be vacating his seat anytime soon.
