Nigeria’s N39.55trn debt, heightened insecurity, crude oil theft in Niger Delta: Adeboye expresses palpable fears

With humongous foreign debts, spate of heightened insecurity across the country and large-scale crude oil theft in the Niger Delta, Nigeria is inching up steadily into bankruptcy and ruin, according to Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

Adeboye, who is the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), said Nigeria despite the huge debt pileup is still borrowing more money both locally and abroad.

Persecondnews.com recalls that the Debt Management Office (DMO) had disclosed that Nigeria’s total public debt has risen to N39. 55 trillion as at December 2021.

This represents a N1. 55 trillion or 4.1% increase in 3 months when compared to the N38 trillion total public debt that was recorded as at September 2021.

Adeboye said:“Meaning, according to a friend of mine, that we are moving steadily to bankruptcy, a whole nation. My beloved Nigeria is moving steadily towards bankruptcy.

Adeboye spoke in his Sunday sermon at the Holy Ghost thanksgiving at the Redemption Camp, Mowe, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

According to the cleric, more than 90 percent of nation’s income is being used to service debt.

Adeboye, whose message dwelt on the state of the nation, expressed fears that “Nigeria is moving steadily towards bankruptcy.”

On the massive crude oil theft going on in the Niger Delta, he said about 10 percent of Nigeria’s crude is being stolen on daily basis thereby robbing the country of revenue.

On the 2023 polls, the cleric said he was not sure if the elections would hold as God has yet to speak to him about it.

“God has not spoken to me about the elections unlike in 2019 when God revealed things to me before the elections.

“As of now as I am standing before you, I still don’t know whether or not there would be an election next year.

“Don’t say that Pastor Adeboye said there would be no election next year, that is not what I said. Adeboye does not know yet, put the word ‘yet’,” he explained.

He, however, urged Nigerians to register and be prepared to vote in the elections, when and if they would come up.

Adeboye said: “As a Nigerian, you have a duty to register, to vote and make sure your vote will count. You have a duty to belong to any party of your choice.

“You can’t refuse to vote and then complain about the government.”

“I laugh when people start talking about 2023 elections because even me I don’t know yet if there will be an election.

“During the last (2019) election, I knew there will be an election in August (2018) the previous year because he (God) has told me about it.

“It is not too late for him (God) to say something (about 2023) but for now, he has not said anything about it,” Adebayo popularly called Daddy G.O pointed out.

Reacting to the recent cases of attacks and killings and bombing of the Abuja-Kaduna train in Kaduna State, he concluded that no where is safe any longer in the country.

“You cannot travel by road, you might be kidnapped and attacked. You cannot travel by train, you can be attacked. No where is safe.

“Today, it is Kaduna, who knows where next? ”

Adeboye also disassociated himself from partisan politics and insinuations that the RCCG is supporting a political party.

“I have said it before, and I will say it again, I am not and will never be a politician, I am a pastor – that is what God has called me to be.

“Please do not distract me. My assignment is to be a pastor; to pray for you, to pray for nations including Nigeria.”
