Chief Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a Oosa Ighoho, the Yoruba Nation activist, was on Monday released from detention by the Benin Republic Government.
Breaking the news, the umbrella body for Yoruba Self-determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, said Ighoho was handed over to Yoruba leader, Prof. Banji Akintoye and French language expert, Prof. Wale Adeniran by senior officials of government.
A statement by Ilana Omo Oodua’s spokesman, Mr. Maxwell Adeleye, said:”Yoruba Nation Activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, fondly called Sunday Ighoho, has been released by the Government of Republic of Benin.
“The Activist was released on Monday to a Yoruba Leader and Leader of the Umbrella body of Yoruba Self-determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Professor Banji Akintoye and a French Language Expert/ Deputy Alana of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Professor Wale Adeniran.
“Akintoye described the release of Ighoho as a triumph of truth over darkness in Yorubaland.”
Persecondnews.com recalls that Igboho had made a masterly escape from a bloody raid on his Sooka, Ibadan residence by the operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) on July 1, 2021.
At least, two of his aides were killed while 12 others were arrested and taken to Abuja headquarters of the DSS.
On July 19, 2021, Ighoho had escaped to Benin Republic to board a flight to Germany with his wife, Ropo, before he was arrested by Interpol at the airport.
