Less than 12 hours after officially declaring interest to contest the 2023 presidential poll, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has slammed a N2.9 billion fraud charge against former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha.
Okorocha, who is also a Senator representing Imo West, was accused of conspiring with an APC politician and five other companies to steal N2.9 billion from public coffers.
They are Anyim Nyerere Chinenye, Naphtali International Limited, Perfect Finish Multi Projects Limited, Consolid Projects Consulting Limited, Pramif International Limited, and Legend World Concepts Limited.
The presidential aspirant will be charged to court on a 17-count charge alongside the other defendants.
Persecondnews.com had earlier reported that Okorocha officially declared his presidential aspiration ahead of the 2023 presidential poll at a news conference in Abuja on Monday.
He had said: “I’m not too young or old to contest, l’m just 59 years old”.
