2023: Endorsement of Tinubu untrue, mischievous, says AfDB President Adesina

Contrary to some media reports, the President of African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr Akinwunmi Adesina, has denied claims of his endorsement of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for the 2023 presidential race.

This is coming on the heels of a photograph being circulated on the social media and a statement attributed to Adesina endorsing Tinubu.

However, Adesina’s senior advisor on communications, Mr Victor Oladokun, noted that the AfDB President did not issue the statement, adding that the reports were “untrue, mischievous and fraudulent”.

Persecondnews.com had reported on Monday, January 10, that Tinubu, 70, took his presidential aspiration from the realm of speculation, by hitting Aso Rock to formally declare to President Muhammadu Buhari, of his intention to vie for the presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2023.

After several months of “consultation and speculation”, Tinubu said: “l have informed Mr. President of my ambition to run as president.”

Mixed reactions have been trailing the move by Tinubu with some criticizing him as unqualified because of his age and health condition.

One of them, a People’s Democratic Party chieftain, Chief Olabode George, described the aspiration as a huge joke.

Others lauded it as a bright chance for the Southwest.
