The first African-American Secretary of State, General Colin Luther Powell, has exited the world.
Aged 84 years, Powell reportedly died on Monday from COVID-19 complications.
The former diplomat and retired four-star general was the 65th U.S. Secretary of State from 2001 to 2005.
Powell is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alma Vivian Powell, as well as their three children. His family said he was fully vaccinated against COVID-19, but he underwent prostate cancer treatment in 2003.
Per Second News learnt that Powell was diagnosed with multiple myeloma—a type of blood cancer that can severely weaken the body’s immune system.
