Insecurity: Nigeria takes delivery of six A-29 Super Tucano aircraft from U.S.

The first batch of six A-29 Super Tucano aircraft from the United States has been delivered to Nigeria as part of military strategies to curtail insurgency and banditry in the Northern Nigeria.

The Nigerian Air Force took delivery of on Thursday took delivery of the first batch of six A-29 Super Tucano aircraft from the United States.

The six Tucano aircraft are part of the 12 fighter jets sold to Nigeria by the United States to aid combat actions and air assaults.

The Nigerian Air Force has said the first batch of the Super Tucano aircraft will arrive Nigeria from the US at the end of July 15, 2021

The Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, confirmed the delivery in a statement in Abuja.

According to Gabkwet, the aircraft arrived Kano about 12.34 p.m.

The officials who received the aircraft included the Minister of Defence, retired Maj.-Gen. Bashir Magashi, Chief of Army Staff, Lt.- Gen. Faruk Yahaya and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao.
