“We hope the presidential aides would continue to advise the President on the condition and wellbeing of the poor masses, especially in those aspects where he would need to be informed on certain development for necessary action”

The worsening economic situation in the country coupled with all-pervasive insecurity have inflicted pains and untold hardship on Nigerians with the resultant effect of hunger and starvation, a monarch has said.

According to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the situation requires an urgent intervention by the federal government.

Receiving President Muhammadu Buhari in his palace, the Emir said: “Nigerians are suffering from perpetual hunger coupled with security challenges.”

Bayero, who said high cost of food and consumables in the country occasioned by hyperinflation, urged the Buhari administration to urgently ease the economic crunch impoverishing Nigerians.

On the security challenges facing the country, the monarch urged the government to intensify efforts toward restoring peace, law and order across the nation.

“We want to commend the President for the infrastructure development across the country, particularly those sited in Kano, just as the governor listed some of such projects despite the shortfalls in the globally economy.

“We hope the presidential aides would continue to advise the President on the condition and wellbeing of the poor masses, especially in those aspects where he would need to be informed on certain development for necessary action.

“This is a responsibility upon us which we need to discharge accordingly,” Bayero told Buhari.

On COVID-19, he advised Nigerians to keep praying for the leaders and to God to heal the land from the rampaging virus.

While assuring the president of the emirate’s continued prayers and support, Bayero lauded him for finding Kano State worthy of citing the Federal Government’s critical infrastructure.

Buhari had congratulated the monarch on his recent coronation as the 15th Emir of Kano.

He expressed satisfaction for the warm reception received in Kano and commended Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje’s administration for massive Infrastructure development in the state.
