For introducing an anti-people bread tax in Kogi State to shore up the state’s revenue, Gov. Yahaya Bello, has been swiped by a former Kaduna Senator and social crusader, Shehu Sani.
Describing Bello as a COVID-19 “priest”, Sani derided the governor for the new levy on every loaf of bread sold in the state.
The ex-lawmaker said in a tweet on his handle Senator Shehu Sani @ShehuSani that the governor was “turning bread into stone” after he claimed to have defeated coronavirus in the state.
Sani wrote: “After defeating COVID in Kogi, Bello the priest is miraculously turning bread into stone.”
Persecondnews recalls that Kogi State Government had on Friday announced a consumption levy on every load of bread sold by those bringing the staple food to the state to sell without paying tax.
It said the levy was meant to protect indigenous bakers.
