Benin #EndSARS protest: Two police stations torched, AIT, RayPower office vandalized by hoodlums

The #EndSARS protest in Benin, Edo state capital, has left in its trail violence and wanton destruction of properties as two police stations were burnt and the offices of AIT, RayPower were vandalized.

The police stations are located at Ugbekun and Odogbo, Persecondnews reports.

It was not clear who torched the stations but sources say it might have done by hoodlums who had infiltrated the ranks of the protesters.

However, attempt to also burn down the Oba Market Police Station was thwarted by vigilant operatives of the division.

Also efforts to get the State Police Command’s spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, to speak were unsuccessful.

In another development, the Benin office of Dar Comunications Ltd, owners of Africa Independent Television and Ray Power Radio has been vandalized.

The attack believed to have been launched by some hoodlums also left several vehicles in the premises destroyed.

A bewildered staff said: “I don’t know what could have warranted their action. We are not police, we are not government, we are only a private outfit doing our job.’’
