Fatal cutlass attack on boy: Judge to Pastor: You must die by hanging

278

The Scriptural law of who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword is the fate of an enraged pastor, who killed a boy for hunting frogs at his fish pond in Ondo State.

The convict, Kolawole Samson, is to die by hanging for killing Ayo Olaniyi at a village near Okeigbo in the state as pronounced by Justice Ademola Bola of an Akure High Court.

Olaniyi had sometime in March 2016 gone to hunt for frogs with three other boys at Kolawole’s fish pond.

Kolawole, who was at the pond when they came on a hunting exercise, had attacked them with a cutlass and in the process, injuring the late Olaniyi on the head.

According to the prosecution, Olaniyi later died at the hospital where he was admitted for treatment.

The state counsel, Mr Olusegun Akeredolu and Mrs Omotola Ologun, had told the court that the convict committed the offences in spite of his “not-guilty’’ plea.

They said the offences bordering on murder committed by Kolawole contravened Sections 316 and 319 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo State (2006) which are punishable with death.

In his ruling in the four-year-long trial, Justice Bola said all the evidences before the court pointed to the fact that the “pastor’’ was guilty charged.

“You, Samson Kolawole, is to die by hanging,’’ the judge pronounced.

Persecondnews reports that Rev. 13:10 of the Holy Bible which the pastor swore to held sway in the judgment.
