The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has expressed dissatisfaction over the level of compliance of Nigerians with measures guiding the lockdown relaxation in the country which began on Monday.

Specifically, the PTF cited non-observance of social distancing and the use of masks by Nigerians who crowded into the streets and public places in Lagos, Ogun states and the FCT.

The PTF Chairman and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, who said this at a media briefing on Monday in Abuja, lamented the refusal of many Nigerians to adhere strictly to advisories regarding the lockdown relaxation.

Mustapha maintained that there was high level of violation of the guidelines, adding that the crowds at the banks posed great risks.

In addition, he said interstate travel ban has not also been complied with, stressing that the evacuation of almajiris from different states has not respected the guidelines of government.

Enforcement agencies should do their jobs effectively and bring violators to book, Mustapha directed.

He warned: “Security agencies should not to take laws into their hands, but should follow due process in carrying out their duties.”
