Zainab Ahmed resumes at Ministry of Finance

818

Zainab Ahmed, Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, on Monday resumed at the Nigerian ministry of finance in the supervisory capacity and has promised to increase revenue generation by the ministry.

“We have very serious revenue challenges and it is up to us to make sure we shore up the revenue base of the country,” on her first day at the office.

Ahmed was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari to supervise the ministry following an abrupt resignation of the former minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun, on Friday.

Adeosun resigned her position in the midst of allegations that she tendered a forged exemption letter as parts of documents that allowed her to be appointed into the Nigerian public service.

It is unclear whether Ahmed will relinquish her role as the Minister of State, Budget and National Planning.
