Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing and former Big Brother Naija winner Phyna clashed on Tuesday at a news conference in Victoria Island, Lagos, two days before they are scheduled to face each other in the boxing ring.
The clash occurred during the pre-fight event for the much-anticipated celebrity boxing bout, as tension between the two entertainers boiled over in front of attendees and members of the media.
The highly anticipated contest is scheduled for Thursday, October 1, as part of Balmoral Group Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring series.
Nkechi and Phyna have spent the days leading up to the bout trading words, with their rivalry generating considerable attention across social media and entertainment circles.
However, the tension took a physical turn when the two women exchanged punches during the press conference in Victoria Island.
Footage from the event captured by Per Second News (PSN) showed the actress and reality TV star confronting each other as people around them attempted to prevent the situation from escalating further.
The incident has added another layer to the build-up to a fight that was initially presented as a celebrity boxing contest but has increasingly been driven by the personal exchanges between both women.
The latest confrontation also comes after their earlier physical altercation during an appearance on The Morayo Show, where an argument between them reportedly escalated into a fight.
Since the announcement of their October 1 bout, both Nkechi and Phyna have remained vocal about their readiness, with each woman expressing confidence ahead of their meeting inside the ring.
The October 1 event will take place at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos, with the contest forming part of Balmoral’s celebrity boxing series, which has previously featured Nigerian entertainers
