Nigerian music superstar Davido has added another major honour to his collection after his fifth studio album, 5ive, won Album of the Year at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards, AFRIMMA, held in Dallas, Texas.
The victory came at a significant moment for the singer, who entered the awards as the most nominated artiste, securing five nominations across major categories.
Davido was nominated for Artist of the Year, Best Male West Africa, Crossing Boundaries With Music Award and AFRIMMA Album of the Year, while his collaboration with Omah Lay, “With You,” earned nominations for Best Collaboration and Song of the Year.
The Album of the Year recognition went to 5ive, Davido’s fifth studio project, which features collaborations with artistes including Omah Lay, Chris Brown, Victoria Monét, Becky G, Shenseea and Chike.
The award also gives fresh significance to the title 5ive, with the album becoming the latest project from the singer to secure major recognition from AFRIMMA.
The 2026 AFRIMMA ceremony marked the return of the awards after a two-year break and was staged alongside the inaugural AFRIMMA Music Festival at Annette Strauss Square in Dallas.
Davido’s latest AFRIMMA triumph further adds to his long list of international and continental honours, reinforcing his position as one of Nigeria’s most decorated global music stars.
For 5ive, the AFRIMMA Album of the Year award represents another major milestone for an album that has continued to keep Davido at the centre of conversations around contemporary African music.
