The reigning CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year spoke with resolve during Friday’s pre-match press conference in Rabat attended by Persecondnews correspondent, revealing an upbeat dressing room unified by a single goal – rectifying their past mistakes and securing a victory.
“Talking about me coming on social media to apologize, I just feel like it was necessary. You know just to let the fans know that what happened was not intentional,” Nnadozie said.
“This is Football. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but that doesn’t make us a bad team, or that doesn’t make me a bad player.”
Africa’s Most Decorated Goalkeeper explained that her online apology was a deliberate and sincere step to reassure supporters the result stemmed from neither carelessness nor lack of effort.
She noted that the squad has already begun absorbing lessons from the opening game and remains focused on delivering a stronger performance.
“You know. So moving on, we just have to keep our heads high and keep doing what we know how to do best. We didn’t get to this level because we stayed down when we lost,” she told newsmen.
“This is not my first time making a mistake in a game, you know it has happened in the past and if I had kept my head down I wouldn’t have continued.”
Nnadozie also took time to thank the fans who have continued to support the team.
“I just also want to say thank you to everyone who believes in us, who has been wishing us well, who has been praying for us.
“And moving forward, by the grace of Almighty God, we will try to. I mean, we have been learning a lot since the last game, and hopefully, the next game we will try our best to make sure we get things correct,” she said.
