Nigeria’s Flamingos exploded onto the continental stage like a wildfire, delivering a merciless 5-0 thrashing of Guinea in the first leg of their second-round qualifier for the 2026 Women’s U17 World Cup in Morocco.

Captain Harmony Chidi lit up Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan on Saturday with a dazzling first-half hat-trick that left the visitors shell-shocked.

The young stars burst out of the blocks with devastating intent, racing into a commanding 4-0 lead before the interval.

Chidi drew first blood in the opening minute, then unleashed a rocket from distance in the 12th minutes to make it 2-0.

Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, the sharp FC Robo Queens striker, added a clinical low header at the far post for 3-0, before Chidi rounded off her treble six minutes before half-time with a composed finish, gliding the ball under the keeper from a defence-splitting through ball.

Mary Dunstan sealed the rout with the fifth goal, handing new coach Akeem Busari a dream debut and sending an unmistakable warning across Africa.

Persecondnews reports that the return leg is set for Friday, May 30 at Remo Stars’ Ikenne Stadium in Ogun State.
