Following weeks of mounting speculation, the political tide in Zamfara has officially turned.

Governor Dauda Lawal has exited the PDP to join the APC, a move confirmed by his Deputy, Malam Mani Mummuni, during a stakeholders’ briefing in Gusau.

The administration framed the defection as a pragmatic step toward “stability and progress,” arguing that the PDP’s internal frictions were becoming a distraction from the state’s urgent security needs.

By joining the ruling party, Lawal’s administration hopes to leverage the “Renewed Hope” agenda to accelerate local development.

To solidify this new alliance, the state government is now mobilizing its base to register with the APC as part of a fresh membership drive.
